Diary of the War of the Pig is a fantasy about a time in Buenos Aires when old people are being attacked and killed by the young.
War’s narration gives it a much more immediate sense of urgency and tension than Invention’s oddly removed dairy entries, while maintaining Huerra usual density of ideas. Part Allegory and part irreducible dream, this story of courage, cowardice, and love is disquieting testimony on the human condition of our southern neighbors.

And despite the sheer darkness of the concept — the story follows six friends in their twilight years who find themselves suddenly the targets of mob violence with the rest of the older population of the city — the tone keeps things oddly brisk and at times ironic.
